The Reverend Denise Bennett, Priest-in-Charge
Denise Bennett was delighted to begin her ministry at St. Asaph’s in June of 2023. She graduated from Union Presbyterian Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree in 1999 and served as a lay chaplain at the Hermitage Richmond Retirement Community for 21 years. After joining the Episcopal Church in 2014, she began to feel the call again to ordained ministry. She received her certificate in Anglican Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2021. Denise was ordained to the priesthood in December of 2021 after serving as the transitional deacon at Emmanuel Brook Hill in Richmond. She then served as the Interim Rector at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Richmond for until her call to St. Asaph’s. Denise is a storyteller, writer and harpist. She is married to Jim Bennett who is the music minister at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church and they have two grown sons, Joshua and James.
